Hey, I've Got Some New Shoes On

You guys, guess what.  Leo got his first pair of real shoes!!!  We went to Littles in Squirrel Hill which is where I used to go shoe shopping when I was little.  They have moved some things around and made some updates, but the store is pretty much the same as I remember it!  Leo made himself very much at home - he was crawling and cruising and making friends with the other shoe lovers and staff at the store.

First step's first, Leo had to play withe the foot measurer to make sure it was safe to use:

Then he actually had his foot measured.  Size 3 Wide - since he's still so young (usually you don't get shoes until you're walking), he still has that layer of fat on his feet so after trying to squeeeeze him into a 3, he was much happier with a wide shoe.

Doesn't this look like the face of a kid whose excited that his foot is in a shoe?

Showing off for Kelsey, the expert baby shoe fitter:

Woah, these are weird to stand in:

The rubber soles seem really sticky to Leo, who is only used to wearing socks, so he was having a hard time swinging his legs through:

Woah, trying to get his bearings:

Aaaand he got it:

Leo is only going to wear these shoes while he's cruising and during PT to try and straighten out his foot and his hip.  I think it might take him a while to get used to these, but they sure are cute, aren't they?

We went for celebratory subs after shoe shopping where Leo ate pouches, dropped almost all of his puffs on the floor, and scored some french fries from our plates:

Leo Says Dadadadada

Brad and I made a bet a while ago.  If Leo says "mama" first, Brad has to make me breakfast in bed.  If he says "dada" first, I have to make Brad brownies from scratch.  The thing is, Leo needs to know what he's saying - he needs to know that he is saying Dada to address Brad or Mama to address me.

Leo has been babbling for a few months now and this is as far as we've gotten (this is a video with sound but the video is basically just black since we took it on the way home from school last night):

I think my odds aren't looking very good.

This is how a regular "conversation" goes in our house:

Leo: Dadada da da daaaaaa
Brad: Yes Leo?
Leo: Hah daaaaad
Brad: Hi Leo
Stacey: He wasn't saying hi to you
Leo: Daaaaadadadadaaa
Brad: See?  You owe me brownies
Stacey: Not yet.

What do you think?

Here are some bonus pictures of Leo that you get to see because you read the blog:

The Eisenbergs Come to Pittsburgh

We had such a great weekend!  Alissa, Merle, Ben and Lucy drove all the way from New Jersey to visit us!  We had a lot of wonderful family time - lots diapers, burping, holding, cheerios, hanging rings and silly ditties to keep everyone happy.

We went out to dinner at Mad Mex and showed up with three sleeping babies who we lined up in high chairs around our table.  It was quite the sight.  Then one-by-one, they all woke up and wanted to join the party.  Yes, thsi is the best picture we could get.  Nice one, Eisenbergs!

We spent most of the weekend hanging around the house, doing baby things.

Here, Leo shows Ben that the mouse is the most fun to grab:

Here, Uncle Brad masters holding twins.  Oh wait, what about Lucy?  And why is Ben crying?:

Here, Leo is showing Ben how to be a bigger baby and bite your little cousin:

Here are the babies:

And the moms with the babies:

Ben and Lucy did a lot of this:

We went for lunch at Lulus's Noodles and everyone was happy!:

Then we went to the Carnegie Museum where Merle wanted to look at art and we wanted to look at dinos.

Leo wore his dragon sweatshirt (aka magical dinosaur).  Ben wore dino butt pants but then slept through the whole museum so he couldn't show off:

Brad shows off his parenting skills by feeding our baby to a dinosaur:

...and petting a lion:

This morning Leo was so sad, he doesn't want his family to leave!

We had so much fun this weekend - after the babies went to sleep we had dinner, talked, swapped battle stories, and shared experiences being new parents.  And of course, Merle entertained all of us (but mostly Ben and Lucy) with his songs that don't rhyme but do satisfy crying babies.

We miss you guys already!

p.s. I realize I am WAY behind on the blog and haven't posted in a month.  I will try to backtrack a bit and fill you in (and post pics) on what we've been up to over the last month.  Stay tuned!
