We had such a lovely weekend! Why? Because it was lazy! We didn't do much of anything. We just relaxed, ran a few errands, and stayed inside while the weather outside was yucky. It gave us the perfect excuse to hang out and enjoy each others company.
If this picture is any indication, this is how our sleepy weekend began on Friday night - with a sleepy spaceman after a nice Shabbat Sh-falafel at Bibi and Zee's house:
Saturday morning we practiced crawling and played with toys:
If you are reading this in your email and can't see these "animations", make sure you go to the blog here: www.thestamms.blogspot.com
We worked on sitting:
Dad tried to practice walking in the basement:
We had shoulder rides, pulled Dad's hair, and got ready to watch some football:
We got really into the game - some of us more than others (this is a video - again, watch it on the blog website):
On Sunday, we slept in! Leo joined us in bed, ate, and rolled around for a while. He took a nap on Dad's arm while lifting his little turtle head to make sure I was still there about once a minute:
We ate some puffs and other yummy things:
We got bundled up and went to run some errands - chewed on a pineapple toy, took a nap at Ikea in his new big boy stroller:
We went to Costco and played around, sat backwards in my car seat like a gangsta, and played around with the cleaning products:
And to prove that Leo wasn't worn out after this weekend of fun, this is what he was doing Monday morning while we got ready for work and school (video):
And with that, ladies and gents, Leo is on the move. He crawled for the first time! It was a couple of knee-shuffles but it was definitely intentional and definitely toward something dangerous - Addison's crate! He wasn't interested in crawling toward toys, toward us, toward music - he just wanted to get to Addison. What happened when he reached her? She licked him in the face every time he tried to pet her - of course! They still haven't had an interaction that hasn't ended with her licking him in the face. What will he crawl toward when Addison goes back home?
Here is Leo's first crawling:
And this is how Leo entertains himself in his crib (those are his legs in the air and his feet against the bars):
He babbles, he rolls, he sits, he rocks, he plays with the bars - he's just got a lot to say and do!
We went to the pumpkin patch this weekend and look who we saw there - the cutest little pumpkin that we ever did see! We liked him so much we picked him and took him home with us. We will continue to feed him, love him, and raise him as our own.
Leo did a great job sitting on his own amid the pumpkins. He liked smacking them, touching them, and trying to eat their stems.
We took a hay ride there and back, which was a but tricky with the stroller. It was an unseasonably warm day (almost 80 degrees!) so we didn't spend that much time in the pumpkin patch. They had other fun things to do but Leo is too small for them (corn maze, jungle gym on tractor tires, pony rides, etc.). We'll come back next year when he's big enough to enjoy them. For now, we'll take our little pumpkin home and enjoy him all fall long.
A few weekends ago Stacey, Leo and I hit the road across PA to meet Lucy and Ben in NJ. Leo is starting to be much more aware of himself in the car now so instead of doing the whole drive at once we took the occasion to stop at Hershey on the way. We just had to go get milkshakes and take the ride with free chocolates after...
After staying at a hotel/ warehouse/ sporting center place we grabbed breakfast as a diner in downtown Lancaster, PA and drove the rest of the way to see the twins! They're both so cute, and couldn't be more proud of Aunt Alissa and Uncle Merle for how well they're doing with them! Also, we had to get a picture of the three of them together! Props to the new parents for trusting Leo to be between them for sure.
The next day was Lucy's naming and Ben's bris, as you can see it was exhausting for Leo, but thankfully he made a friend who was excellent for sleeping on:
After hanging out the rest of the day with the fam, Since Great Grandma Judy and Ed were already in the state, Uncle Rick drove them up so they could see the twins and Leo, and everyone had so much fun looking at each other!
On the way home we decided to stop in Lancaster to visit the Amish Farm & House which is right next to Target and they even have formal horse-and-buggy parking! We had a fun tour seeing how they live, and can picture what Leo would look like in the adorable Amish outfits! After doing a little shopping at the outlet shops we got dinner, and Leo enjoyed sucking on a tortilla chip!
We all had a great weekend seeing family and are excited to see everyone again soon!
Okay, okay, I'm a little behind on the blog. Things have been just a little busy around here.
Let me take you back. Aaaaall the way to September. Okay, it was about a month ago. We packed our bags and headed to New England! Our destination? Maine, for Leah and Jeremy's wedding.
We had an early morning flight and Leo was ready for the adventure. As you can see, he's becoming a very comfotable flyer.
We flew to Boston and rented a car to drive up north. We stopped in Portland, Maine for lunch (lobster roll for Brad, of course), to stretch our legs, and to get our fix of this little city we enjoy so much. Leo loved it too.
Leah and Jeremy had such fun ideas for their "camp" wedding - one of them was to go to a farm up the road and we picked flowers for the wedding! We were given guidelines and scissors and we cut them straight from the plant. It was so fun! Leo slept through this fun activity.
At the camp, we were invited to stay with a family in their cabin. They have two young boys who are Riley and Asher's ages so they have toys, a pack and play, and were ready for babies. It was so nice and comfortable at their cabin! We had such a nice time staying with them. And man oh man were those boys into "Baby Leo". They were so curious as to what he was doing, why he was making certain noises, if he wanted to play with their toys, etc.
Brad was most concerned about catching the Penn State game. He and Leo were all dressed up with no where to go. He listened to the game on my phone, and Leo took a snooze in his pack and play.
Here's a video of how Leo spent some of his time in Maine:
Since we were in Maine, Leo and I (unintentionally) dressed in our Lobster Finest:
I was a bridesmaid so Brad was on Dad Duty all day while I was in and out, hanging out with the girls and getting my makeup done - it was so nice to be pampered! Doesn't Leo look so sweet? He was wearing loafers but they kept falling off.
Suuuper Daaaaad! As the evening went on and Leo got tired, we brought out the big guns - the baby carrier. Brad pulled the ultimate dad move and danced the night away with Leo strapped to him.
Here is Leo, the morning after, with the beautiful bride:
On our last day, we got the car all packed up, we got situated, we got Leo in the car and hit the road for our 3 hour drive to Boston. Not 30 seconds after we hit the (gravel) road, we smelled the dreaded smell. We had a code brown. What opportune timing - we were dropping our trash off at the dumpster of the camp, so we made a presto changeo outfit change and made another deposit at the dumpster. And then we really hit the road.
On the way down, we stopped at the Portland Head Light, one of the most picturesque light houses in Maine. We walked around, Brad had another lobster roll, and we filled up Leo's tank before driving down to Boston.
We spent the day with Boston's newest residents, Grandma Carol and Poppa! We loved spending time with them and visiting their beautiful new apartment. Poppa, Brad and Leo enjoyed their grilling time outside too and shared a few beers amongst the guys.
Finally, the next day, it was time to head home. Doesn't this look like the face of a baby who is ready for his own crib?
