Leo Starts Potty Training

Who would have ever thought this would be something to be excited about?  Well I am and I'm not afraid to say it!

Leo has had an interest in going on the potty for the past month or so.  At school they told us he's ready so today is the day, Day #1 of Potty Training!

Leo is excited to use the potty so he doesn't have to wear diapers anymore.  Just kidding!  Here are his main reasons he wants to use the potty:
1. M&Ms!!!!!!!!!  Whenever he goes potty he shouts "emineminem!!!!!!"
2. Flush
3. Wash. Haaaaaands.
4. This is a far fourth, but he's excited about the Thomas the Train and Mickey Mouse underpants we got him to wear.  A few times he's worn them over his diaper just for kicks.

Hey, when you're 2 years old, those are exciting reasons. I talked with Leo this morning about how exciting it is that he's a big boy and he gets to go potty - he seemed to understand and to be sufficiently hyped up about it.  Maybe it's because we were playing with filters though:

I tried to take a picture of him eating his "brown cheese" (round cheese, or as he says "b-b-bbbb-round cheese) and he took off:

If you want to see our current favorite thing Leo does, it's when he wants to show us something, he says "Mommy, Loooook!", or "Daddy looook!"  It's absolutely the cutest thing ever and it makes us kvell every time.  I finally got it on camera this morning when he told me he wanted to show Gavi his pants.  Check out this video.  I cut it off too early but he ends by saying "bye Gavi" and saving to her.  He is such a great big brother!:

We had a lazy day yesterday and it was lovely after all of the cooking and planning we'd been doing for Passover.  Guess who just learned how to use Snapchat filters.  That's right, this girl!

Leo and I checked out a new playground by our house at Jefferson school.  It was a little big for Leo but he still had fun.  Here he was testing out his skills on the wobbly bridge (see video) - it was really scary at first but this is his 8th time and he was really getting the hang of it!

Brad was "sleeping" and Leo was using Brad as his personal jungle gym:

Matzo brei!  I was the only one who ate it but I had some really cute helpers:

And I'll just leave these here:

The Dentist

Leo had his first dentist appointment this week - such a big boy!

He stayed back from school in the morning so while I was getting ready, he "played on his own" which meant he slowly starting bringing his blocks into the bathroom to join me, one my one:.  He's not great at playing by himself yet but we're working on it.

We got to the dentist and he found a Frozen book so he was comfortable right away.  He played with some of the magnets on the wall and was interacting with a couple of older kids and holding his own.  I was nursing Gavi and filling out paperwork and talking to the guy next to me so I wasn't able to play with Leo so I'm relieved that he was content to semi-entertain himself.

The dental hygenist was awesome!  She brought Leo back into his own private room and was great in showing him all of her tools, letting him touch them and showed him how un-scary they were.  She didn't use the tools on him this time, she just wanted to get him used to the idea of them.

Then she showed me something magical.  Leo HATES having his teeth brushed but she showed me this trick.  Leo sat on my lap, facing me, and laid back so his head was on her lap, then she brushed his teeth.  He didn't squirm and didn't thrash and didn't scream like he usually does.  It was amazing!  So that night, Brad and I tried it and it worked!  We'll keep trying to do it for a while to get him into the swing of it.  Who knew brushing teeth was a 3-person job?

I think Leo's favorite part was "swimming" on the chair.  He was showing off his sweet swimming skills, right off the chair.  And he jumped off the chair a bunch of times.

Then he got stickers (!!! - Mickey, Thomas and Frozen, obviously), and on the way out she showed him a big train they have set up by the ceiling that she made loop around the office.  He loved it!  Overall it was a very successful trip to the dentist!
